Jackie has a warm, strength-based approach to counselling, and is skilled at helping people feel safe, supported, and heard. She utilizes heart-based therapeutics, which allows people to experientially connect with their own center of peace and wisdom. In this way, people may learn to recognize, feel, and rely on their own feeling to help navigate them through any difficulties they may face. She also incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems, and Interpersonal Therapy based upon the individual needs of each person.

Jackie primarily works with older adolescents and adults. Her therapeutic areas of focus include body image issues/ eating disorders, identity development, depression, relationship issues, and anxiety disorders such as OCD, social anxiety, and phobias.

Originally from the United States, Jackie has received a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Vermont, and settled in Australia not long thereafter. She is a registered member of the Australian Counselling Association (level 3). Jackie has worked extensively with university students, as well as individuals on the autism spectrum and individuals with learning disabilities. She welcomes neurodiversity, and those who feel they feel they navigate life a bit differently than others.

Jackie feels that when a genuine relationship based on trust can form, the therapeutic space can become the necessary safe haven through which exploration and realizations may occur. As the client/therapist relationship is key to a positive therapeutic experience, Jackie encourages anyone interested to contact her and get a better sense as to whether working together would be a good fit.

In addition to in-person sessions, Jackie also offers Skype and phone counselling.
